Eulogy

Whether or not you've spent afternoons exploring the realms of The Feminine Mystique, you should definitely experience The Female Eunuch's unabashed lack of awe as Germaine Greer remembers prominent feminist Betty Friedan.

Its almost hard to read that without embarassment for both of them. Betty's outbursts only matched by the completely un-self-aware rhetoric of one out of touch, self-involved politically ignorant 'feminist' bashing another in strangely childish language. It also reads like a shallow attempt at replicating this ( http://lrb.co.uk/v27/n06/cast01_.html ) excellent, damning, but ultimately fair portrait of Susan Sontag, written by another cast off former admirer from the feminist camp, albeit one with tact and grace.
