What a ghastly end to a thoroughly disappointing U.S. showing. ESPN talk radio is calling this the worst year for Professional sports referees, thanks to all the controversy in the NBA Finals, World Series (thank you mr. pierzynsky), and yes the World Cup. The penalty call was horrible, but so was Carlos Bocanegra's decision to try to save the ball by kicking it up high and towards the middle-creating the doomed scenario for Oguchi Onyewu- rather than clearing it off to the side like any professional defender should.
Oh well, now I can get back to supporting England without distractions. It was also good to see Senderos head in a free kick today for Switzerland, adding himself to the Arsenal scoring list in bloody fashion.
