Last Tuesday night I joined Peter for a late-night Polanski screening and then decided to walk home around 2:00 A.M. rather than taking the night bus. It was eerie being the lone human on Portobello Road. Only the double deckers kept me company in Notting Hill Gate. The singing of two late-night carousers entertained on Holland Park Ave. Shepherd's Bush was ghostly and foreboding.

hey phil, good to hear from you brother! we're in West London, but if you're not coming to the city, let me know where you'll be and perhaps I can come there via train.

unfortunately, i'm not coming to the city this time. last year erika and i stayed there for about a week. this time, i'm all over the place. the closest that i'll be to you will be is bromsgrove (HILTON BIRMINGHAM BROMSGROVE). it's probably about a 2 hour train ride. i'll be there for two nights - 15/1/06 and 16/1/06. you (and your wife) are welcome to come up for a visit. i can reserve a room with two beds with no problem if you train up and want to stay the night. after that i'll be in wales (st. asaph) and in manchester. it's going to be a quick, scattered trip.

Unfortunately, I have classes monday night and tuesday morning, so it's unlikely I'll be able to make it to Birmingham.

What brings you to st. asaph of all places? I realize you may not be allowed to say!

that stinks about the classes. i will be staying on tuesday night, so if you get motivated or change your mind, let me know. my uk mobile #4 0 7 4 0 3 2 7 9 8. give me a call if you would like, i arrive monday morning.

anyway, i'm going up to st. asaph to visit an optics vendor (qioptiq).

btw, i just saw that norma jean is playing at carling academy birmingham on monday night. i may have to hit that up...

Hey Evan, nice to see pictures on your blog again. Your early morning trek reminds me of Frost's poem, "I have been acquainted with the night"

We called Ansley "Ansel Adams". You've got considerable skill too.
